Final Edition.

I have decided it's time to say goodbye to this little post "theme." I can't imagine it'll be that difficult given that I've only done one of these posts this year. Still, I had a lot of ideas in my head that I'm no longer able to use, at least not on my blog.

Friday I'm In Love

Alright, I realize it's been quite some time since I did one of these posts. The truth is that I am hell bent on reducing our student loan debt this year. I'm all tunnel vision about debt reduction (which is the only reason I'm able to stand driving our 1994 shitbox of a car). The idea of posting about things I'm lusting to buy makes me feel...well, icky. Like window shopping, which I think is the suckiest of all pastimes.

But. However. The thing is.

We are still spending money to make our house homey and there are a ton of items I've seen that would make things just right. So, in the spirit of saving for, and buying with cash, only what you love, here is today's list.

We are in serious need of coasters. But who thinks of buying coasters? I mean really, unless you're drinking, and then you're drinking so everything seems fairly good anyway, who sits around shopping for coasters. I think I've had these coasters from PaizleyPolkaDot on my Etsy favorites list for at least six months without pulling the trigger on the buy.

I love them, I just can't bring myself to buy them. I think I need to seriously reevaluate my propensity for martyrdom. Not buying these coasters is really only hurting myself, and possibly the beautifully handcrafted concrete tables I'm currently setting my sweaty beer bottles on.

This next thing doesn't really have much to do with home decor but it does make eating Chinese take-out more enjoyable. Especially since all our restaurants started using those stupid foil and plastic box containers. I only wish I could find some of these with the red designs on the side.

So there you have it. Three things I'd love to splurge on. Hopefully I can squeeze some of them out of our budget in the near future.

Friday I'm In Love

There are so many things I love about this time of year. The cold weather, the endless days of shopping, the joy of listening to the only cheesy radio station that plays a loop of well worn Christmas songs, and of course, the food.

This edition is dedicated to my love of peppermint. Elijah insists that the addition of peppermint to any food only serves to destroy it's deliciousness, but I respectfully disagree.

This is my favorite holiday food ever! Since it's a seasonal item, every year, I try to make it last longer by buying up several tubs and keeping them safely from freezer burn. They don't usually make it past March.

This is something that can be difficult to find, but if you like peppermint, they are totally worth the search. Walgreens can usually be depended on to keep them in stock.

Best stocking stuffer ever.

This is new, I'm just trying it out. I'll get back to you on the deliciousness factor.

I realize this isn't a food, but it's a glorious way to start every December day!

So there you have it. A list of my favorite peppermint treats. Am I crazy to love peppermint this much?

Friday I'm In Love

Here is my I love this cooler weather edition!

The weather has finally turned cold and I am starting to get excited about the change of seasons. Here is a list of things I love about Fall.

Crock Pot cooking. I love the smell of dinner cooking all day. It makes the house seem so much more cozy.


Sweater Weather!!!


Mums. With the move, we haven't been able to plant them yet, but I'm hoping we can squeeze in at least a potted mum on our doorstep soon.


We finally get to use our new fireplace!

I love turkey. If I could, I'd eat it every week. Unfortunately, having the oven on all day only makes sense when the weather turns cooler.

There you have it. My opinion of the greatest things about the weather turning cold.

Friday I'm In Love

This Friday's love list is dedicated to Fall treats. There is so much I love about this time of year, I can guarantee we'll have more Autumnal love lists in the near future. However, in the spirit of blogging with integrity, I thought I'd start with the goodies since they are my favoritest part of the season.

Nothing says Fall to me quite like a caramel apple. While I've made these at home, on occasion, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory really is the go to place when I feel a little Fall in the air. I like mine with just caramel and peanuts but they have plenty of concoctions for those more adventurous.

As I mentioned before, I love caramel apples. I also love truffles. This box from Dean & Deluca is nothing short of perfection.

Being from California, I am a long time fan of See's Candies. This is a very rare treat for me though. We don't have any real shops around here, just the mall kiosks that sell the basic boxes during Christmas, and I don't order this type of stuff for myself. My granny would always send me a box of my favorite candy (scotch kisses) on special occasions.

Last, but not least, is the need for a cute place to put all of the Halloween candy that I plan to steal from eat with my kids. I found this cute little gourd at PoppyGoRound on Etsy.

Friday I'm In Love

...the "Label Whore" edition.

That's right. I'm not ashamed to admit it. I embrace it, and if you feel the same way, I'd advise you to do the same.

Now, on to the list!

First off, I am of lover of all things Kate Spade. Her bags are not only beautifully made, they are understated and classically styled. I love that I can use them season after season. I'd been hoping for a fantastic iPhone cover and she has come through for me yet again. This is the EXACT color of my current (cheap plastic) phone cover only it has her lovely touch.

Burberry Nova Check. Nothing says "label whore" more than my desire to own something, ANYTHING that bears this iconic design. Wallet, bag, hat, shoes, scarf, hell I'd even take an umbrella. There is an outlet nearby and I've already made one window shopping visit. I predict the second visit will turn this "want" into a "have."

I'm not a big fan of coach. I don't fault the coach groupies. I can see the appeal of some of their pieces. I just don't usually like their collection. Then I saw Bride Wars and the Coach Legacy Gigi bag worn by Anne Hathaway's character. It was love at first sight. Unfortunately, it was also a few seasons past and completely impossible to find in the Whiskey color shown in the picture. I have an ongoing search on Ebay and they spring up occasionally. I'm just having trouble convincing Elijah to pony up the $300+ for this bag.



Look at that sole! Pair these amazing Louboutin's with jeans and a white ribbed tank and you have an outfit that perfectly expresses my personal style: lazy, yet pricey.


And now for the final member of today's list.


The Mercedes G Wagon.

Because when you're picking up your kid in the carpool line, bra-less, wearing last weeks pajamas, looking like you just crawled out of bed (because you did, because no one with kids actually gets any REAL sleep) and your daughter, her face covered in whatever sticky substance you were able to force down her at lunch, is screaming in the backseat, you have to have a $104,000 vehicle. If only to reassure yourself that parenting did not beat all your sense of style out of you with it's "mommy!, mommy!, mommy!, why not, what for, how come, do I have to?" club.

Friday I'm In Love

It occurred to me to start a link list of things I've discovered (and am currently coveting) through my online adventures. I won't commit to doing this every week (I'm already over committed as it is!), but I'll try to do it often enough to make it seem like a real thing.

Here goes my first ever Friday I'm in love list:

I will own this adorable cupcake jar from In A Glaze as soon as I find the perfect hutch for it to call home.


I have wanted to order something, ANYTHING, from Sarah + Abraham and just haven't gotten around to it. I love their line of family silhouettes...maybe I'll use them for Christmas cards.


The Outer Banks Trading Group has the perfect photo for my downstairs powder room. Elijah and I met in Monterey which makes this all the more fitting for our home. My only hesitation is the $72 price tag.

Every Christmas I buy matching pajamas for our family. Yes, I am THAT mother. The Company Store has all of their family pajamas on sale and they are ridiculously cheap. I will probably buy them early just to save a little on our Christmas budget.
